Welcome. This is an aggregate of media related to my epic road trip from Tennessee to Yellowknife during the August/September 2016 timeframe. This is a sabbatical trip! After 5 years with Emma, they are gracious enough to allow a month-long hiatus in which you go do something meaningful. I hope you enjoy the journey!
Yellowknife is so far away. As a kid, I was always intrigued when looking at my parents' globe and seeing Yellowknife, so remote, so far from everyone else. Yellowknife is two days by car from the nearest big city. There's a hint of Lewis and Clark making the drive through vast, empty stretches of Canada. You have to watch your gas levels, filling up at every chance. Until a few years ago, a car couldn't drive into Yellowknife without the help of a ferry, or an ice bridge. And of course, the Aurora. Catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights would be a lifetime experience all by itself.
